I've noticed three species of bumblebee in the garden so far. The first, a buff-tailed, on 2nd Feb and almost daily since. - A red-tailed on 24th Feb during that warm weather. On 19th Feb I found one drowning in a tray of water. It crawled onto my arm and we sat in the sunshine together until it recovered and flew away. I think it was a tree bumblebee but it was so wet I couldn't be sure. It spent a lot of time repeatedly cleaning up and drying it's antennae but didn't seem bothered that its abdomen and all the hairs were still soaking wet when it flew off. So pleased it recovered.
